'Abébélubé' was what we called them. Who can help us wipe the board?  Aunty I!  Who knows the answer to this question?  Aunty I!  Nominate a class captain  Aunty I!  Abébélubé  is a yoruba word used to describe someone who is too forward. An ITK , an oversabi.  we called them too-know-know.  They were unbearable, always in front, had answers to every question. They were enthusiastic about work and would drag us all in, Like reminding our teachers about an assignment we prayed all night to be forgotten . They were too damn forward and it frustrated the hell out of most of us. But they were the boldest people! frankly speaking they are the boldest people I have met. They didn't need any external motivation, they motivated themselves and were content being their own hype men, even when they answered wrongly or got their asses whopped, by the next class they were on their feets willing to try out something. Despite being driven mad by their oversabi.  

The saying "never say never" resonated strongly with me while reading this book. I must admit. I definitely was a bit hesitant in reading this book majorly because I was skeptical about the content of a Nigerian crime book. Seeing that I have barely read a book in this genre written by a Nigerian or an African. Blame it on my earliest not-so-pleasant experiences of Nigerian crime movies courtesy of African magic. Elizabeth Olushola Adeola in her debut novel chasing facades uses suspense, intrigue and romance to address crime, rage and hunger for justice in a rather simplistic tone.
